Citizen Code Enforcement

An ongoing complaint from the residents of City Heights concerns trash and litter in the community. Price Charities provides a grant to the City Heights Community Development Corporation to fund a code enforcer coordinator staff position. Working with Community Housing Works and the City of San Diego, the Code Enforcer organizes community volunteers block by block. The volunteers coordinate trash removal, the City of San Diego waives landfill fees, private trash haulers provide dumpsters and do the hauling at a discount and local non-profits make public announcements to recruit volunteers.
