Price Community Builder Fellowship Program
Goals
The Community Builder Fellowship Program was initiated in 2001 through the efforts of Price Charities and Professor Mike Eichler, founder of the Consensus Organizing Center at San Diego State University. Each year, the program links six recent Bachelor of Social Work graduates with six nonprofit organizations in City Heights. Both the students and nonprofits are selected based on a competitive application process. The nonprofits are also chosen based on the type and quality of work they propose. Price Charities funds a portion of each Community Builder’s salary. Over the course of eleven months, the Community Builder works as an administrative staff member in the organization, attends bimonthly training seminars conducted by the Consensus Organizing Center, and works collectively with other Community Builders to address a larger issue facing the City Heights community. At the end of their term, the Community Builders receive a $5,000 scholarship to the Masters in Social Work Program at SDSU. Note: You will need Microsoft Word to open this file.
